Golos

Golos is the land of the high elves. Those elves who have made a name for themselves in society and reach social and economical maturity commonly move to a city in Golos at some time in their life, even though many get shot back down to economic ladder, sometimes all the way back down to Galadrian. It is a land where one can make a name for him or herself, or get his/her family name forever tarnished in the annals of history. Thus, the cities are headed by the leading family that resides in each city, leaving there to be an uneasy truce between the cities within the region, let alone truces between Golos and its surrounding regions. However, despite its unruly tendencies and lack of alliances with other regions, Golos has kept itself out of a war with other regions for three reasons: the immense amount of people who live on Golos, the large personal armies of mercenaries each leading family maintains and the centrality Golos is within most trade networks. If Golos were to go to war, the backlash on the trade networks would most likely detriment the warring city more than Golos. Most of Golos as a region is wooded, extensive forests between cities miles long from one wall of a city to the other. In the middle of the region is the moderately sized artificial Lake Synope, which the cities of Golos all keep as a reservoir to supply all of the cities with fresh water.
