Uhlam

Uhlam is a naturally protected region, its boundaries being the mountains that surround a wide open basin. Thus, it is said to be an off year for Uhlam if Uhlam has not engaged in a war with some other region, no matter how far away that region be from Uhlam itself. Almost every region, besides Deszeld and Zundae, has at one time engaged in a “war” with Uhlam, usually initiated by Uhlam, but Uhlam does not win these wars very often. The other regions usually treat Uhlam like a child in this respect, a child with a short temper that simply needs to be forced into a corner every now and again. Despite the number of losses Uhlam suffers, the region itself is never taken over because of its natural defenses. This fact, and the nature of the Cogadh, Uhlam’s warring spirit is never drenched and continues to burn. Within the basin is three large cities that all get money through the arms trade they keep with various regions they are not currently at war. They see this as fair play since Uhlamians feel it dishonorable to fight opponents with inferior equipment and they figure they will fight those regions in the future eventually. Primary races include Half-Orcs, Tieflings, and Hobgoblins, although Duergar and Constrites sometimes migrate here from Vicinix, a region which has been an ally of Uhlam for the past hundred or so years.
